Preschool Weekly Update-week of 8/14

Dear God, in this moment of great distress and sorrow, we come before you with heavy hearts, lifting up the people of Maui and the Big Island. who are facing the devastating wildfires. We acknowledge your sovereignty over all creation and trust in your unending love and mercy. – Amen

Dear Preschool Parents,

I added this prayer today for the people of Hawaii. Many of us have had the opportunity to visit these beautiful islands and I felt that starting our weekly updates with this prayer was appropriate.

We are only one week away from starting the 2023-2024 school year! I have a few families that need to complete their paperwork and send in any updated immunization records. Please forward this information to the school office.

Our first day of school will be Monday, August 21 8:00-12:00. There is no afternoon preschool care on Monday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 22nd. Parents will sign-in their child outside the Preschool classroom. This will be our morning drop-off and pick up procedure.  Please send your child with a morning snack and a small lunch.

To welcome all of you to the new school year, there will be a Meet the Teacher event prior to the Welcome Event for new families in the school garden on Thursday, August 17th. The classroom will be open from 5:00 to 5:30 pm. It is essential that one parent and child attend this short but informative event. This is an opportunity for your child to see the classroom all set-up for the first day.

Every week you will receive the link to our weekly update. It will keep you informed on classroom happenings. Please also read the school’s newsletter sent out weekly to stay current on school events.

I look forward to seeing you all on the 17th!

Blessings, Ms. Grace

What Our Families are Saying

"The supportive teachers at SPN played a big role in preparing me for high school and helping me understand what to expect. They encouraged me to ask questions and seek help when needed, which made me more confident in my learning. Thanks to them, I entered freshman year already familiar with many concepts and effective study habits that have helped me stay on top of my work. SPN also taught me valuable life skills that I still use today, helping me succeed academically, build strong friendships, and maintain my overall well-being."
— Tibby Horvath, SPN Class of 2022
"We are very satisfied with the SPN community, something that is important to our family. My children feel safe and comfortable with SPN. Our family feels connected with the SPN community from parents and families to the staff and faculty. My children and we as parents have made healthy and positive relationships with other families from school. We share time outside of school with other families which brings a level of connectedness I don't know if we would have elsewhere"
— SPN Parent
"My children are experiencing community in other ways than just friends and playdates. Faith Families is an example of community, interacting with students from all grade levels, and learning and creating for others outside of SPN. Field trips to Kids Against Hunger or the Alameda Food Bank where they work and see firsthand how their efforts help others less fortunate, for those who are in need of support. Community is not just our SPN ‘bubble,’ and that is what SPN demonstrates and provides– opportunity to explore a bigger community."
— SPN Parent since 2016
