Let Us Fast

While fasting with the body,
brothers and sisters,
let us also fast in spirit.
Let us loose every bond of iniquity;
let us undo the knots of every contact
made by violence;
let us tear up all unjust agreements;
let us give bread to the hungry
and welcome to our house
the poor who have no roof to cover them,
that we may receive mercy from
Christ our God.
-Byzantine Vespers

Dear Preschool Parents,

As we journey down our Lenten path I am encouraged by the quiet, good deeds and kindness the children have displayed. During our morning circle we have discussed the differences between “boastful” good deeds and “quiet” good deeds. I hope that your home chart is starting to look as beautiful as our class chart.

The past week we studied the Sahara desert with it’s amazing animals, pyramids and geography. This week the plants and animals of the Mojave Desert will be our focus. The children will also be working on a special school-wide art project for the spring art show.

A special shout out to Ms. Mariem and Mrs. Hall for a wonderful week. They jumped right in for a smooth transition.

On Monday, March 14th we welcome Allie to our preschool class!

The CA Mask Mandate for indoors at schools and childcare will end by Monday morning, March 14.  Please speak with your child about your preference of their mask wearing in our school buildings.  Children are no longer required to wear their masks and we are no longer required to enforce mask wearing in the classroom.

Have a restful weekend, Ms. Grace

What Our Families are Saying

"The supportive teachers at SPN played a big role in preparing me for high school and helping me understand what to expect. They encouraged me to ask questions and seek help when needed, which made me more confident in my learning. Thanks to them, I entered freshman year already familiar with many concepts and effective study habits that have helped me stay on top of my work. SPN also taught me valuable life skills that I still use today, helping me succeed academically, build strong friendships, and maintain my overall well-being."
— Tibby Horvath, SPN Class of 2022
"We are very satisfied with the SPN community, something that is important to our family. My children feel safe and comfortable with SPN. Our family feels connected with the SPN community from parents and families to the staff and faculty. My children and we as parents have made healthy and positive relationships with other families from school. We share time outside of school with other families which brings a level of connectedness I don't know if we would have elsewhere"
— SPN Parent
"My children are experiencing community in other ways than just friends and playdates. Faith Families is an example of community, interacting with students from all grade levels, and learning and creating for others outside of SPN. Field trips to Kids Against Hunger or the Alameda Food Bank where they work and see firsthand how their efforts help others less fortunate, for those who are in need of support. Community is not just our SPN ‘bubble,’ and that is what SPN demonstrates and provides– opportunity to explore a bigger community."
— SPN Parent since 2016
