Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents, December 3,2021

The season of Advent is upon us and the students are getting excited for Christmas. We will celebrate Advent weekly in class as we approach Christmas.

We would like to call to your attention a few reminders for students ( and parents).

  1. Due to the approaching winter weather, it is often cold and/or rainy. It is fine for students to wear a coat to school. Please be sure your child’s sweater, sweatshirt and jacket are marked with their names.
  1. In their excitement, students often have a more difficult time remembering the rules at this time of the year. Reminders about appropriate play would be helpful;  safety is our number one priority. Please encourage your child to remember the rules at school.
  1. The students have enjoyed their first week of playing on our new play structure. Rules have been set so that the students are clear in our expectations.

Our December Homework will be sent on MONDAY.  It will be a customized technology plan for your child.

Don’t forget about our Adopt a Family Drive. Please read about SPN’s Adopt a Family drive in Ms. Thomas’ Newsletter this week. Donations are due by next week.

Our Christmas concert this year will be virtual. There will be a recording distributed to families to watch together on December 16th. Mr. Quinones will notify all families of the date of the recording and instructions on uniforms, etc. Please refer to Ms. Schmitz’s email for the information and details for our concert.

One reminder for parents- please do not double park when picking up your child after school. Per our school rules, we are not permitted to release students into a double parked car. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

In conjunction with her teaching credential program, Mrs. Hall will be teaching the class lessons all next week. Together with Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Halkias, the lessons have been planned.  Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Halkias will be the teaching assistants!

Our SuperKid next week will be Orion. Thank you to Emily M. for sharing her things.

What Our Families are Saying

"The supportive teachers at SPN played a big role in preparing me for high school and helping me understand what to expect. They encouraged me to ask questions and seek help when needed, which made me more confident in my learning. Thanks to them, I entered freshman year already familiar with many concepts and effective study habits that have helped me stay on top of my work. SPN also taught me valuable life skills that I still use today, helping me succeed academically, build strong friendships, and maintain my overall well-being."
— Tibby Horvath, SPN Class of 2022
"We are very satisfied with the SPN community, something that is important to our family. My children feel safe and comfortable with SPN. Our family feels connected with the SPN community from parents and families to the staff and faculty. My children and we as parents have made healthy and positive relationships with other families from school. We share time outside of school with other families which brings a level of connectedness I don't know if we would have elsewhere"
— SPN Parent
"My children are experiencing community in other ways than just friends and playdates. Faith Families is an example of community, interacting with students from all grade levels, and learning and creating for others outside of SPN. Field trips to Kids Against Hunger or the Alameda Food Bank where they work and see firsthand how their efforts help others less fortunate, for those who are in need of support. Community is not just our SPN ‘bubble,’ and that is what SPN demonstrates and provides– opportunity to explore a bigger community."
— SPN Parent since 2016
