Tone Chimes

Students in the Middle School Tone Chimes perform at various liturgical events and other school activities.

The Tone Chimes class often prepares a meditative piece to play at all School Masses. Students also play for the Christmas and Spring concerts, as well as the Seder Meal, Burning of the Palms, Blessing of the Animals and seasonal songs for Morning Prayer and Pledge. After each performance, students participate in a self evaluation of the performance to aid in perfecting future performances.

In addition to learning to play different songs, students analyze each piece of music they are playing. In addition to basic notes, note values, time and key signatures, students learn about basic chords and chord structures and understand the relationship of chords and key signatures through an analysis of the Circle of Fifths.
