Final Third Grade Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Wow, what a year it has been! Although we’re ending a little earlier than intended, we are still finishing strong with learning and fun. We’ll take our final math assessment this afternoon and have our final run through of our reader’s theater plays. The kids have done such a wonderful job! Many of them wanted to have you here for the performance, but because of the rising Covid cases, it’s advisable not to have any extra parents on campus. So instead, I will obtain recording equipment from our broadcasting class to record, and send it to you afterwards.

Report cards will be mailed next week, but tomorrow students will take home STAR test results from May as well as data from other adaptive programs we’ve used in the third trimester. Tomorrow we will also have a low key class party where we’ll watch a movie and have popcorn. Students asked if they could bring in other treats, and I told them they could, but please don’t feel obligated or pressured in any way to provide something.

Here is a list of resources that can be used over the summer. The most useful activity your child can do is Read chapter books and practice on XtraMath every day.

Thank you for being such a supportive group of parents. Many of you were able to see and feel the love I have for my students, and also recognized the effort I put into my profession. Your children were a great bunch of kids who loved to learn and laugh together. They also practiced solving social issues, and their ability to forgive and apologize was put to the test on a weekly basis. I’m going to miss them, as I do all the classes I’ve loved, but feel grateful that I’ll see many of them again next year in the halls.

Have a wonderful summer and please don’t hesitate if you have any other questions.

Warmly,

Mrs. Costy
