Second Grade Update

Welcome to the first week of 2nd grade! I hope that everyone had an enjoyable summer and that your students are ready for a wonderful year of learning and fun! 

This first week in 2nd grade will be focused on getting to know each other and learning about our classroom (i.e. procedures, routines, responsibilities, etc.). We will also be getting back in touch with our academic interests, strengths and opportunities with the intention of establishing our goals together. Last but certainly not least, we will be focused on the very important work of building our 2nd grade classroom community. 🙂

This year, homework will be focused on reinforcing a nightly reading routine (minimum of 20 minutes) and reviewing/refining foundational math skills and strategies. The only homework for the first week is nightly reading with the books you have at home.

Calendar items:
Wednesday, August 21st– First day of school, noon dismissal
Wednesday, August 28th – Back to school night
Friday, August 30th – Minimum day
Monday, September 2nd – No school/holiday
Wednesday, September 4th – All school mass

Reminders:
– Students need to bring a nutritious snack each day.
– Wednesday is always 2:10 dismissal unless noted.
– Full uniform is required on all Mass Days (our class mass is on Thursday each week).
– Library books are due on Wednesdays.
