Preschool Weekly Update – Week of 9/15

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood” – Mr. Rogers

Hello Parents,

We had a wonderful week exploring our feelings and learning how to express them in positive, healthy ways. With the guidance of parents, caregivers, and teachers, we’re helping our little ones grow in their understanding of emotions.

Next week, we’ll begin our unit on “Family Pets.” This is always a fun topic—even for children who don’t have pets at home! We have been sending home the “I Spy” alphabet worksheet for parents/caregivers to help reinforce letter recognition.

We do have a few reminders where your support at home can make a big difference:

  • Please remind your child that we keep our hands to ourselves. Our young learners can get a bit overexcited during play.
  • Mrs. Hall and I encourage the children to advocate for themselves and use their words when they’re uncomfortable with something.
  • During snack and lunch, children should remain seated and take small, careful bites while eating.
  • We also ask that children listen carefully and follow directions when walking to and from the play structure and garden.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Looking ahead:
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held during the second week of October. A link to sign up for conference times will be sent out soon. Please note that Preschool will close early at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 10th. Regular hours will remain in place for the rest of the week.

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Grace and Mrs. Hall
