Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents, April 16,2021

We hope that you enjoyed your Easter with your families. Be sure to read the latest email with our Spring update for the return to full day learning next week.   We look forward to having our students together in class next week!

.

The students will now begin to learn the St. Philip Neri Student Learning Expectations. The Schoolwide Learning Expectations represent personal guidelines for our students in their journey to become respectful, responsible, reverent, life long learners. We will present them in class and ask that you go over them with your child. To promote positive reinforcement of achievement of the SLE’s, students are recognized for practicing and demonstrating these key expectations.  Students will be chosen by their teachers to receive a reward weekly for exceptional performance of the student learning expectations.Mrs. Murray will present the awards to the student body for each grade weekly.

In connection with a special Spring Project, our Music teacher Mr. Q. has asked the families to please send in some rain gear for your child for NEXT WEEK’S CLASS. Mr. Q. says, “If everyone has a rain jacket, that would be good, if most can bring rain boots, that is even better, or if some have rain hats or umbrellas that would be icing on the cake. I’m hoping it’ll give them a ‘dressed up in costume’ sort of look.” Please send IN A BROWN BAG LABELED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME with your child on Tuesday!

In May we will begin our study of some of some of the most famous major world artists in connection with the book E I E I Art by Mari Tzikas Suarez. The students will study the artists, share information that they’ve learned about the artists and create an art piece in the style of the artist.  It has been a fun and creative unit in the past for students. If you would like to order the book E I E I Art  the author has added a discount code for our students. You can order it on eieiart.com and enter in the code NERI for a 10% discount!)

Our Super Kid next week will be Levi.  Please be ready to share on Thursday.

The  Kindergarten theme for the Spirit Day on April 30th is “ Your Future Self.” Students will dress up in what they want to be when they grow up!
