First Grade Weekly Update

  • The field trip was a success-thank you to all the parents who were able to drive and chaperone.

Language Arts

  • reading: The Little Horse, Caves, A Visit to a Coral Reef, Rebecca’s Pond, Let’s Put on a Play
  • handwriting
  • sight words: would could some one new were
  • adjectives
  • phonics:
    • long vowels with ee (bee, keep) and ea (peach, heat)
  • Writing
    • opinion writing
    • revising favorite things writing

Math

  • developing number sense in 0-120 range-values change depending where a number is on the number line
  • mentally find 10 more and 10 less
  • place value
  • greater than and less than
  • Penguins: compare heights

Religion

  • Lent
  • Mary
  • Sacraments

Science

  • Why do stars come out at night?
  • How can the stars help you if you get lost?
