Third Grade Weekly Update
Dear Parents,
I hope this email finds you well! We’ve been chipping away at some amazing popsicle stick bridges for science this past week. In order to study basic engineering, students investigated then designed a bridge that could span an 18 inch gap using only 150 popsicle sticks and Elmer’s glue. Most students added trusses but some opted for reinforcement on the underside, they all look amazing and we’ll begin testing them for strength next week.
We also continued our Service Learning by cleaning up our campus and surrounding community. We started by discussing how keeping our community clean connects to catholic social teachings and followed up by picking up 3.75 pounds of trash (yes, we weighed it!). I’ve included some pictures below for you to enjoy. Next week we’ll do another round of clean up and a reflection.Â
Here are some upcoming dates to plan for:
- Tuesday, June 6: Free Dress for June Bdays
- Friday, June 9: End of T3
- Monday, June 12: Class Party (walk to the beach)
- Tuesday, June 13: Last day of school- 10:30am Dismissal
Please make sure to read our SPN Weekly Newsletter to keep up with school information and events!
This last full week we’ll keep our regular routines with homework and close up science, writing and social studies projects. Monday the 12th we’ll have a class party so please don’t order Choice Lunch for your child on that day (we’ll have pizza off campus). I’m looking forward to ending this year strong with this wonderful class!
