Kindergarten Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

This past week the students had a busy week preparing for their seder presentation and discussing and learning about the meaning of Holy Week and Easter. On Friday, the students met in their “Faith Families” and did a Lenten activity together. They discussed what they have been doing in the Lenten season and then designed a colorful strip which was linked together to make a Lenten chain. The students then got to eat lunch together with their “Faith Family” and played on the yard with them. It was definitely a “bonding activity” and the older students displayed kindness and caring for the younger ones. It was a joy to see.

All of the students did a FABULOUS job on their books that they wrote for the month of March homework and all of the  students had an opportunity to read and share their books with the class.

Beach Day was a blast! Mrs. Foster took pictures and we will post them soon! Students had a sandbox to play in, made vacation postcards, read beach books and made paper jellyfish!

The Alameda Public Librarian, Mis Andie, came on Friday and read an Earth Day book with the class, brought and shared other Earth Day books and made  “ Mason Bee Condos” with the students. The directions for the “condos” are in their Friday folders. The students were most polite and engaged! It made us proud!

We will hold off on our regular curriculum this week and spend the week practicing for our Seder meal presentation and the story of Moses on Thursday. Thank you to parents who are helping to prepare for our meal.

Remember that the students will walk to the Alameda Theater on Wednesday morning  to see the Earth Day movie “Penguins.”

We will not have a Super Kid, Guesstimation Jar or Rosie this week.

There also will be no Friday folders or behavior reports next week.

Please let us know if you are traveling and your child will not be here for all of next week.
