Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents, May, 6,2022

The May Crowning on Wednesday was beautiful. The Kindergarteners together with the Third grade planned the mass. The Third grade honored Mary with special readings and the Kindergarteners carried a beautiful long stemmed red rose up to the altar for Mary. Emily Mathews carried a crown of fresh roses which was then blessed and placed on the statue of Mary. This has been a long time tradition at Saint Philip Neri which will continue as your children move on up through the grades.

Our Fun Run takes place on Tuesday, May 10th. Students may wear appropriate athletic clothing and shoes on May 10th, the day of the run, instead of their uniform.

  • Teachers will provide all students with a FunRun t-shirt. We will hand the t-shirts out on the day of the run. Students will wear their FunRun t-shirts when they run.
  • Be sure to send a water bottle with your child for that day!

Don’t forget about our Spring Concert on Thursday, May 12th. All students are required to be in attendance. Details were sent in last week’s Kindergarten Update and Mr. Q sent an email to all families with the specifics.  Going with the theme of A Prayer for Peace here are the specifics for attire:  For evening concerts, students typically wear “Nice Free Dress” (description on p. 45 of the handbook), and for this concert, bright spring colors are the theme! Students may also dress in the theme of “peace and love” (i.e. clothing with tie dye, flowers, peace signs, or rainbows), but please no jeans or shorts.

The art show and all classrooms will be open from 5:30-6:30 for you to visit and see all of the wonderful art and work that our students have been working on.  This is a great time to see the 1st grade classroom!  All students will need to be in the classroom at 6:30 as parents will need to get their seats in the church for the concert.  Please remember that no students will be dismissed prior to the conclusion of the concert.  Pickup will be along the side gate per our dismissal procedure.

May 21st is the final Family Mass of the year at SPN.  If you would like your child to participate in the 5:15 pm Mass as a reader please email Mrs. Foster for more information.
