Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents, March 25,2022

As we continue to navigate life as we return to more of the normal routines and events, we want to acknowledge our parent partnership in the education of your children. The lifting of the mask mandate has transitioned with relative ease. Thanks for advising your children with your preference for mask wearing. Some students are continuing to wear masks and others are not; most take their masks off outside. We will continue to keep the plexiglass partitions at the students’ tables in our classroom. We will strive to provide support to parents through our continued planning of lessons for our class in communication with other educators in order to best serve the needs of our students ( and parents.)

Leveled reading groups take place now twice a week in class. We  continue to assess students with informal and formal  testing in order to establish our reading groups.

This week the students will begin to learn about The Story of Moses and the Seder Meal in preparation for their performance during Holy Week. More details to follow!

Please continue to reflect on and collect for Rice Bowls! Please turn them in the week of April 11.

This Spring we are planning a study of the world’s greatest artists with your children. Your child will learn about several of the world’s most famous artists in conjunction with the book EIEIART by author Mari Tzikas Suarez. The students will study the artists, share information that they’ve learned about the artists and create an art piece in the style of the artist.  It has been a fun and creative unit in the past for students.More information will follow after Easter break.

***Coming home in Friday Folders:  Our first Research Report, All About Polar Bears.  We gathered information, completed prewriting activities, labeled a diagram, drew pictures, recognized areas for headings and wrote sentences.  The students worked very hard completing this project together as a shared writing project.  They will complete their own research project in the month of April!  This was a big project that we completed over a period of time.  They were very proud…ask them about it!!

There will be no April homework due to Holy Week and Easter.

Our SuperKid for next week will be Lorenzo. Thanks to Evelyn for sharing her things.

Mrs. Foster thanks all families for the lovely birthday gift!  The board, napkins and dip mix fit with one of her favorite things…cooking for her family!
