The month of February finds us very busy with Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Holiday, 100th Day of School, Black History Month and Lunar New Year. Our room mothers will be contacting parents to assist with donations for the celebrations. Thanks for your help.
Here is what we have planned for February:
Black History Month: Weekly Literature Circles, Interactive Notebook Entries, Seesaw Projects
Lunar New Year: In class activities and performance with Mrs. Wang, Mrs. Shindler and Mrs. Spaudie on 2/11, Literature Circles and Interactive Notebook Entries
100th Day of School: Students are to bring 100 items to school on or before February 11th. These should be non-edible items that fit in a zip-top sandwich size bag (eg: legos, paper clips, mini erasers). They will be used for a project in class and will be returned. We will have a day full of math centered activities around the number 100!
Valentine’s Day: Students will celebrate with a themed snack and distribution of Valentines. Please send your child a Valentine to pass out to their classmates. Please have them only sign their name and not personalize them for each classmate. There are 27 students in our class. It is a free dress day-pink, red and white colors!
The students selected to represent Kindergarten this year at our Oratorical Fest are Samantha Fayngersh, Annamarie Patterson, Maverick Schindler and Lorenzo Fowler. Only four students may be chosen per class but we told the students that if they weren’t selected this year, they could be chosen next year! All of the students were well prepared and the class really enjoyed it!
Our SuperKid next week is Jack. Thank you to Emily L. for sharing her things.
Just a quick note about Choice Lunches- we are noticing that some students are not eating most of their lunch and are throwing it away. Please speak with your child that they should be eating at least half of their lunch and that you are choosing foods that they like. We don’t like to see the amount of food that is being wasted. Thanks for your support.
