Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents,                                             January 7, 2022

Welcome back to school!  Happy New Year to you all!  We are so thankful for your understanding and flexibility regarding the testing requirement to return to school.

Our class handled the first couple days back smoothly.  It is so nice to get back into the routines of the classroom after a long break.  January is always a time for much focus and growth in the Kindergarten classroom.  We have an exciting month ahead!

Some COVID notes:

  1.  MASKS!  The new recommendation is no fabric masks.  Please send your child with a surgical or N95 style.  Please make sure that the fit is appropriate.  No gaps or loose areas.  PLEASE SEND AN ADDITIONAL MASK TO SWITCH OUT AT LUNCH!
  2. Remind your child/ren of appropriate distancing-there should be no hugging or touching.
  3. We are continuing our hand washing and sanitizing procedures:  at arrival, before and after eating, restroom use and specialty classes.
  4. Our classroom tables have plexiglass shields with a 3ft. distance between students.  Our lunch tables will go back to 2 students per table while eating at a 6 ft. distance.
  5. Please, continue to do the COVID symptom check each day for your child!  DO NOT send them to school if they are experiencing ANY of the symptoms.

Don’t forget to have your child pick a selection for our Oratorical Fest and submit it directly to us.  No emails, please.  Selections were due on Friday, January 7th, 2022.

Our next Super Kid will be:  Maverick!

What’s Happening In Class When We Return?

ELA/ SuperKids/ Writing– Students will now be introduced to the SuperKids Club.Students will decode and encode many more words and begin to read longer stories. They will be copying and writing sentences and practicing reading using their finger to track the print.  Students  will continue to practice blending sounds to read words. Most children will demonstrate steady improvement and begin to have more confidence in their decoding and fluency skills while others may need more encouragement and support. We will begin to customize instruction to better address children’s differing abilities.

Math.-We will continue with our Math Interactive Notebooks focusing on numbers to 20 as well as our Bridges Workplaces.

Religion– Students will continue to focus on our Student Learning Expectations-Respectful, Responsible, Reverent and Life Long Learner.
