Kindergarten Update
Dear Parents, Sept.17,2021
Our first full days of school continue to go well. This week we have begun some further testing with the students. The ESGI test is administered individually on their IPAD. ESGI (Educational Software for Guiding Instruction) is a simple one-on-one progress monitoring solution for teachers. We will be using this test several times throughout the school year to monitor your child’s progress.
The students will begin learning about the Zones of Regulation this week. The Zones of Regulation program is a framework to teach self-regulation.The students will be introduced to the different zones and will learn how they can use the zones to describe how they feel. Books are used which describe different feelings that they might have in each zone. Students have begun sharing emotions that they feel. We have discussed the fact that students may feel different emotions at different times and that this is expected and part of being who they are. The zones are Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. More information to come later
As a positive reinforcement,we have begun our “Sticker” chart for students. Students receive stickers individually for making “expected choices”, following rules, being kind and staying on task. Ask your child how many stickers they have earned thus far!
As you know, we have begun our “Super Kid” of the Week. Mrs. Foster was our first “Super Kid” and this coming week it is Mrs. Halkias’s turn. Each child will have a turn to be our “Super Kid”. Your child will receive a poster to complete with the assistance of parents. In addition, there will be directions for what to bring to school. We will send the poster and directions on Wednesday it is due on the following Wednesday morning. All items will be returned.
Thanks for returning Friday Folders( envelopes) on Monday. Remember to empty the envelope, sign it and return so we may use it every Friday. Please look for the Conference Request Form in the email that went home this past week. Please sign up for your preferred conference time. Thanks for your assistance. Confirmation of conference day and time will go home next week.
If you have not already done so, please send an LARGE old shirt with your child’s name on it so they can use it when we do painting in Art Class.
