Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents, September 10,2021

The students  have adapted very well to the longer Kindergarten day this past week. Lunch went well and although the students were tired at the end of their school day, we hope that they had fun in their learning! Also just a reminder that the Wednesday dismissal is at 2:10 and not 2:30PM. ( Faculty Meetings on Wednesdays after school. ) Your Back to School Packet detailed  this information on the Schedule page.

We have begun our mornings on the yard now with Prayer as well as saying the Pledge of Allegiance. You may want to have your child begin to learn to say the pledge- hand on heart and look at the flag.  Also as stated in our Monthly Practice for September (emailed to you 9/10), please practice the sign of the cross with your child. Your children will be tested on the Sign of the Cross on the Seesaw Application this month. The month of September will be devoted to these two monthly practice assignments.

You should have also received an email with the Zaner Bloser Manuscript Sheet which details the alphabet letters which we will be using this year. Please keep it at home for your reference.

We have completed our first set of STAR Early Literacy Testing. Teachers, parents and education officials can use the results of STAR testing to identify strengths and weaknesses in order to improve student learning.  The tests give us a benchmark for your child’s  skills and compare them to the results of other students nationwide in Kindergarten. We will use data from these assessments to best tailor learning opportunities for your child.  We will share information regarding your child at the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences in October.  More detailed information on those next week!

The first set of Friday Folders went home today. Please remember to remove your child’s papers from the envelope, sign and return the folder on Monday. Thank you.
