Kindergarten Update

Dear Parents,                                                                  September 27, 2019

Thank you for returning Homework Folders monthly and Parent envelopes and Friday folders weekly. In this week’s Friday folder you will receive your child’s field trip permission slip for our trip to G & M Pumpkin Patch on Thursday, October 17th. Please fill out the form and let us know if you can be a driver or chaperone for our trip.  Thanks for returning and permission slips and money ( $12) for our field trip as soon as possible so that we can assemble our carpools. All parents who volunteer to accompany us must complete the online course for parent volunteers. You can find it at virtus.org. Further instructions for our trip will follow in the next weeks’ weekly updates.

Students are learning the steps for Listening. One way to help your child is to talk with them and reinforce these steps- Look at the person speaking ( make eye contact.) Encourage them to listen without interrupting- mouth is quiet and ears are listening. At school, steps include raise hand to speak, hands in lap and legs are criss-cross when sitting at the carpet.

We will now have a “class pet” which the students will take home on the weekends and return on Mondays. The directions for the class pet are in the journal binder which you will receive with the class pet. A few examples  of what to do are also included. Have fun! Our first student to take “Rose the Bear” home is Juan Carlos. Have fun!

The confirmation for your Parent Teacher Conferences will be sent home in the October Homework Folder which will be distributed on Monday, September 30th.

Note to parents: We have noticed that some children( whose parents have ordered a Choice Lunch for their child)  do not eat their lunches. Much food is wasted. Please talk with your child about what they would like to eat and have them select lunches with you. Thank you.

Liam W. is our Super Kid this week. Thanks to Mazee for  being our first Super Kid and bringing in and sharing her things.
