-Athletic Department-

The athletic department is made up of volunteer parents who organize the after school CYO sports program for the children attending St. Philip Neri.

Our teams participate in the CYO'S East Bay Parochial League (EBPL).

NOTE:
- Aidan Deak ran his 800 meter event with a hard cast on his right arm (broke it last week). The meet director, Bill Ford, expressed his amazement.
- This is the first time that we've had three athletes medal (finishing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd)in the same meet.
- Gabriel and Angelo are 1st timers in the program and both medalled.
- This is the 3rd year in a row that Matthew Conroy qualified in 3 events at this meet and the 3rd year in a row that he has medalled.
- First timer Chris Gardner and 2nd year athlete Adam Reyes both participated in this meet for the first time.
- Mr. Leo came to the distance event on Friday night and stood in the bitter cold for almost two hours in order to take pixs of our two 800 meter runners. What a guy!

Qualifying to participate in this championship meet is a huge achievement and receiving a medal is icing on the cake. We strive for doing our best and these six SPN athletes represented our parish extremely well. Over 700 athletes from 39 parishes participated in this championship meet. It was hot and sunny and FUN was had by ALL!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE SPN ATHLETES WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS PROGRAM IN
2008 AND A SPECIAL CONGRATS TO OUR SIX ATHLETES WHO PARTICIPATED IN THIS WEEKEND'S MEET.

Thank you all for a GREAT 2008 season. With the addition of the K-2 group, our success as a program is assured. See you all at the SPN Sports Awards night May 22nd!
