Saint Philip Neri R.C.I.A.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is an individual and a communal journey into the heart of Jesus and the heart of the Church for those adults seeking to become Catholic. (First Eucharist, Baptism and Confirmation).
This journey takes place as we share our lives, our struggles and our desire to learn more about how the wisdom of Christ, the Church and her Tradition can guide us in this life. During this journey we are called to conform ourselves to Christ and live out that identity within the Catholic community and the world. We welcome you to join us! Call Greta Rosenberger, Director of Adult Faith Formation at 865-2626 *15.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a four part Journey:
I It begins with Inquiry, where the candidates (those already Baptized in the Catholic Church or another denomination) and catechumens (those not yet Baptized) have the opportunity to ask a wide range of questions about the Church and why they might want to become Catholic.
II The Second stage is the period of the Catechumenate, where Candidates and Catechumens learn more specifically about the Tradition, spirituality and theology of the Catholic Church as they continue their personal formation process.
III The Third Period is the Period of Purification and Enlightenment, (during Lent) where the Candidates and Catechumens reflect more deeply upon the sacraments of initiation that they are about to receive at Easter and how their discipleship identity is developing.
IV And finally, the Fourth Period is MYSTAGOGIA, (Easter – Pentecost) which literally means, “unpacking the mysteries”. This is a time when all the newly received along with their sponsors reflect upon the power, the beauty and the mystery of what they have received in the Sacraments and in their journeys.
We would love for you to journey with us!
Here are several ways you can be involved.
1) First and foremost…please PRAY for us! We need your prayers consistent and persistent.
2) We would love for you to participate as a Sponsor, someone who walks beside the candidate/catechumen on his/her journey. (See additional pages).
3) If you enjoy teaching, and have a topic that you are familiar with and would like to present it to us, please join us as a Catechist.
4) If you enjoy preparing for retreats and helping envision the overall journey of these participants, we would love your help as a Team Member.
5) Hospitality- come on Tuesday evenings and help set up snacks and drinks for the participants and help make them feel at home and comfortable in our discussions.
RCIA meets on Tuesday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to call Greta, 865-2626 *15.
